Hearkening back to our Jewish roots, the Orthodox Church marks the beginning of the liturgical year on September 1. (Check out our Metropolitan Tikhon’s archpastoral letter for the new church year, in which he also reminds us to pray for our fellow Americans in Texas and to offer them material relief.) Not only do our festal cycles “reset,” so to speak, at this time, but our parish also inaugurates a new year of Christian Education. We are pleased that on Sunday, September 10, we begin both our fall Sunday School schedule and our regular youth group meetings. Here is a list of our Christian Education classes:
- Adults w/ 11th-12th Grades in upstairs Conference Room (9am Sundays)
- Middle School & 9th-10th Grades in Parish Hall (9am Sundays)
- Elementary (2nd-5th Grades) in downstairs Sunday School Room (9am Sundays)
- Pre-K, K, and 1st Grade in downstairs Sunday School Room (1140am-12:10pm Sundays)
- Additionally, Fr. Justin teaches our primary Christian Education Class each week (often a series–see the calendar for details) each Wednesday night at 720pm following our 630pm Vespers. This class is ideal for newcomers, but also helpful for youth group members and others desiring to deepen their knowledge of the Orthodox Christian Faith.
- Finally, our Youth Group and Girls Group meet on alternating Sunday evenings (again, check the calendar for more details.) We welcome newcomers in middle or high school to approach church leaders about participating!
