This summer has already proved rich in the parish, as the photos below show.
At the end of May, we held our Annual Newcomers’ Dinner to welcome the more than 20 people who have joined St. Athanasius over the past year. We also rounded out our Sunday School year with an “End-of-the-Year” Picnic at Highbridge Park, attended by about 120 people.
On Sunday, June 3, the Feast of All-Saints in the Orthodox Church, our parish community blessed the first three of our (eventually) six Russian-made bells, using the ancient Rite of the Blessing of Bells.
From June 4-7, St. Athanasius hosted Vacation Church School with about 35 children, ages 4-11.
At the end of June, we wrap up the Apostles’ Fast and mark the ancient and beloved celebration of the Feast of Ss. Peter & Paul.
July finds us launching the next phase in the Telos Project for young adults, sending delegates and observers to our triennial OCA All-American Council in St. Louis, and regrouping for August (preparing for the the “New Church Year.”)
Also, If you have been thinking that you would like to come and visit St. Athanasius, we encourage you to come! Check out our online schedule and know that it will be our joy to welcome you!
