Memorial Litya for Archbishop Dmitri Tuesday, August 28 at 5pm prior to Great Vespers for St. John’s Beheading.
Archbishop Dmitri (November 2, 1923 – August 28, 2011) was a hierarch of the Orthodox Church in America. He served as archbishop of the church’s Diocese of the South from 1978 to 2009.
The Feast for the Beheading of Prophet & Forerunner St. John the Baptist will be observed with Great Vespers on Tuesday the 28th and Liturgy at 9am on Wednesday. This day is also a strict fast day because of the grief of Christians at the violent death of the saint.
