Epiphany & Houseblessings

January 1, 2025 Featured

New Year, January, & Parish Life

At the end of December, the Church marked the Great Feast of the Lord’s Incarnation According to the Flesh (Christmas.) The centerpiece of January is the Great Feast that follows 12 days after Nativity–the Great Feast of the Lord’s Appearing (called Epiphany or Theophany,) when our Lord is baptized and inaugurates his earthly Ministry.

Highlights of January in our parish include the Epiphany services, the Great Blessing of Waters (both indoors on Jan. 5 and outdoors on Jan. 12,) the annual Blessing of Homes by our clergy (the Houseblessing Sign-up Page is here,) the resumption of Sunday School, and a season of special classes getting us ready for Lent in March. Check our full online calendar here. Our hard-copy calendar for January can be found below:

We invite you to visit St. Athanasius. Before you visit, check out our “welcome section” here. If you live in Eastern Kentucky or along the I-75 Corridor, consider a visit to our daughter mission St. Nina, located just off I-75 in historic Berea.

A full collection of photos from our Parish Life in December 2024 (including from our St. Nicholas Day celebration, from Baptisms and Chrismations, from our St. Nina Mission in Berea, as well as from our seasonal worship events, outreach, and social events. Enjoy this glimpse into our parish life:
