“The Lenten Spring has come, the time for repentance!” The Lenten Season is truly one of the most beloved seasons of the year for Orthodox believers, as we refocus ourselves on the Lord. We invite you to visit St. Athanasius during these momentous days of reflection and repentance that prepare us to celebrate the Death and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ (celebrated this year on April 24.)
Orthodox Lent begins fully on Clean Monday (March 7 in 2022.) The first week of Lent, known as Clean Week, is especially intense for Orthodox believers. You can visit our full schedule for Great Lent (at left or online.) Our useful “Lenten Guide” (which is available in hard copy at the church) can also be viewed here in pdf form.
It has been a big year for our parish family as we have marked our 20th Anniversary and we prepare for new growth in the years to come. We have also completed video production of a new catechetical series called Intro to Orthodoxy, helping us to reach new people and meet the needs of inquirers who are spread out across the Commonwealth. You can also learn more about our St. Nina Mission outreach along the I-75 corridor centered in Berea. As Lent begins, our parish community spiritually joins the suffering Ukrainian people in prayer and in finanical support.
Below are photos of parish life from January and February of 2022, including some photos from the parish anniversary, a clergy conference, a parish dance, and much more. Our warm parish family looks forward to welcoming you to our church in the days ahead!
