The Glorification of Venerable Herman of Alaska, Wonderworker of All America is commemorated on Tuesday, August 9 with an Akathist to St. Herman at 11am.
St. Nina Mission (Berea) will pray a Paraclesis Service on Tuesday evening at their usual 6:30pm meeting time and the enjoy a potluck. Reminder that today is a f/w/o fasting day in honor of St. Herman.
An Akathist to St. Lawrence of Rome will be prayed at 11am on Wednesday.
Following Wednesday Vespers, Father will offer a special one-time class unpacking the Paraklesis to the Theotokos, which is a major devotional feature of the Dormition Fast. We will explore this extended prayer, comparing it to some other well-known and beloved Marian hymnography from elsewhere in the Orthodox Tradition.
