We greet you as Orthodox Christians around the world get ready to enter the most beloved season of the church year–Great Lent, which then leads to Lazarus Saturday & Palm Sunday, then Holy Week, and then to the Feast of Feasts, the Pascha of our Lord! We are glad you have found us and we invite you to visit our parish soon. You can learn more about making an actual visit to St. Athanasius here. You can also take a peek inside our church by checking our our parish YouTube channel. Watching a service is no substitute for actually being present, but we invite you into our “virtual space” if that helps you get a sense of what we do in our services. Our calendar for March 2024 is below (and our full online calendar–updated through May–can be found here.)

Our full schedule for Clean Week–March 17-22–can be found below:

We also welcome those who are in (or close to) Madison County to consider a visit our St. Nina Mission, which helps extend the reach of the Orthodox Faith along the I-75 corridor and Wilderness Trail. (St. Nina has just acquired a new space–our first location that is entirely our own–at 213 Pauline Drive # 5, Berea, KY. We plan to begin weekly Tuesday night services at 630pm starting on March 26!) Among the regular services and events you’ll generally find each week at our church in Nicholasville (just minutes south from Lexington) are:
- 630pm Saturday Evening Service (Cathedral Vigil or Great Vespers)
- 730pm Saturday Confessions following the evening service
- 930am Sunday Liturgy with Fellowship Hour following
- 12-1230pm Sunday Bread Ministry (free distribution of bread/foods )
- 630pm Wednesday Vespers (or Presanctified Liturgy at 6pm during Lent)
- 720-820pm Wednesday Christian Education: Catechesis & Learning (or Soup & Salad dinner following the Wednesday Liturgy during Lent)
- other services, especially Molebens and Akathists, according to the calendar
Below is a collection of photos from February 2024 showing the full range of liturgical, educational, and social life in our parish. We hope these photos and the depth of our Faith inspire you to visit us during this upcoming season! If you have questions about our calendar or any aspect of our Faith or parish life, please reach out to our rector and senior pastor Fr. Justin at fr.justin@bluegrassorthodox.org.
