As we enter October, we enter “peak fall” in the Bluegrass! We have celebrated the first two Great Feasts of the “Church Year,” the Feast of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary and the Feast of Exaltation of the Cross. In addition, in our own local parish community, we hosted our fall Visitors’ Sunday, enjoyed a Fall Parish Picnic, began our 11-Part Fall Catechesis Series, hosted our Annual Parish (Business) Meeting, and gathered with other parishes for the annual St. Herman Fall Campout –all of which you can see more of in the photo section below.
- Over the next 4 weeks we are looking forward to a number of things:
- Childrens’ “Short” Sunday School begins on Oct. 6 and continues most weeks until Christmas. Sunday School for children ages 5-17 begins immediately at the end of Liturgy (~1115am) and lasts 20-30 minutes.
- Weekly Wednesday Night Fall Vespers at 630pm, Catechesis Series at 720pm, & Bonfires afterwards
- Four Weddings! (Oct. 13, 20, 27, and Nov. 3)
- Choir Singers Sunday (October 6) with a 4pm Choir Cookout @ Carl’s
- The Archpastoral Visit of Archbishop Alexander on October 20 (stay tuned for details)
- A Choir Workshop in Dayton, OH on the weekend of Oct. 25-27 (Info & Registration)
- Diocesan Assembly for our clergy & lay leaders Oct. 28-31 in Richmond, VA.
