September 5, 2015 News

Welcome Guests & Visitors! We are happy you are with us today and will gladly answer any questions you may have about our service. If this is your first time visiting, please let our greeter or doorkeeper know so we can recognize you at the end of the Liturgy. Holy Communion is open to all baptized Orthodox Christians who have fasted from food and water since midnight, had recent confession, and are at peace with neighbors.

Feast of St. Theodosius of Chernigov is Wednesday, September 9

Sunday School For All Ages Begins Next Sunday, Sept. 13 promptly at 9am.

The Feast of the Nativity of the Theotokos will be observed with Great Vespers/with Litya at 6:30pm on Monday, Sept. 7 here at St. Athanasius. Festal Liturgy for the Nativity of the Theotokos will be at 9am at Panagia in Lexington.

Wednesday Vespers at 6:30pm will be followed by a Special Christian Education Series walking us through the new parish handbook. While this might sound a little dry, we will be touching on very interesting challenges of parish life. In the first part this coming Wednesday, we will explore the history of the OCA, the history of our Dicoese of the South, and the history of St. Athanasius (our parish). In addition, we’ll touch on why and how St. Athanasius became patron of the OCA Nicholasville community. Wrapping up the evening, we’ll look at how our parish is structured and our Orthodox model of leadership on all levels!

St. Elizabeth Sisterhood will meet on Thursday, September 10, 7-9pm, at the home of Alina Rizea Rusu. All ladies of the parish are invited. Please bring a food or drink to share as we enjoy fellowship and discuss ideas for activities for the upcoming year.
