“This is the Day which the Lord has made! Let us rejoice and be glad in it!”

We invite you to journey through Holy Week at St. Athanasius and to keep the Holy Pascha of the Lord with us! We have a rich and ancient cycle of divine services for Holy Week, Pascha, and “Bright Week” (the joyous Easter week following Orthodox Pascha, or Easter.) In short, here are the services we are featuring for Holy Week & Pascha:

  • Fri. Apr. 22, 6:30pm End-of-Lent Vespers 
    • followed by Final Adult Confessions
  • Sat. Apr. 23, 9am Lazarus Saturday Liturgy
    • followed by Pancake Breakfast, Children’s Confessions, Palm Folding & Pre-Paschal Crafts
  • Sat. Apr. 23 6:30pm Vigil for Palm Sunday (Blessing of Palms)
  • Sun. Apr. 24 9am Reception into Church (Foushee Family)
  • Sun. Apr. 24 10am Festal Liturgy & Procession w/ Palms
  • Sun. Apr. 24 Sun. Apr. 23, 6pm Bridegroom Matins at Berea College (Union Church, Berea, KY)
    • followed by Confessions for students & seafood dinner
  • Mon. Apr. 25, 9am Hours w/ Gospel of St. Mark (1 through 9:1)
  • Mon. Apr. 25, 6:30pm Bridegroom Matins
  • Tues. Apr. 26, 9am Hours w/ Gospel of St. Mark (9:2 through 16)
  • Tues. Apr. 26, 6:30pm Bridegroom Matins

    • continuous reading of Acts of the Apostles 7-11:30pm (sign-up)
  • Sat. Apr. 30 11:30pm to Sun. May 1 2:45am ++PASCHAL MIDNIGHT SERVICE++ 
    • followed by PASCHAL AGAPE MEAL (all invited) in Hall w/ Blessing of Baskets
  • Sun. May 1 2pm (@ Highbridge Park in Wilmore) Paschal Agape Vespers
    • followed by Paschal Picnic for all with Eater Egg Hunt, Music, and more
  • Mon. May 2 9am Bright Monday Liturgy & Patronal Feast of St. Athanasius
    • Festal Breakfast for Patronal Feast of St. Athanasius in Parish Hall
  • Mon. May 2 6pm Paschal Vespers (@ St. Augustine Chapel, University of KY)

We are the first OCA parish in Kentucky. We are located in the heart of the bluegrass region just outside Lexington.
