Comings and Goings this Summer

July 11, 2017 Featured

Summer continunnamedues. Traditionally, July is a relatively quiet month in the church–lots of traveling and no Great Feasts. August, of course, brings with it the Dormition Fast, the Great Feast of Transfiguration, several lesser feasts, and the culmination of the Summer Pascha: the Feast of the Dormition (Falling-Asleep) of the Theotokos. Here is a look at the rest of the summer leading up the “Summer Pascha.”

  • Wed. July 19 (after Vespers for St. Elijah Feast): 720pm Presentation by Ralph Sidway, author of new book American Thebaid, sharing his experiences of visiting every Orthodox monastery in America!
  • Sun. July 23: Liturgy served by Fr. Thomas Langdon
  • Wed. July 26 (after Vespers for St. Panteleimon Feast): 720pm Presentation on The Holy Trinity by Scott Fennema
  • Sun. July 30: Liturgy served by monastic clergy from Holy Cross Monastery in West Virginia
  • Sun. July 30: Women’s Night Out at Carl’s (Contact Audrey for more info)
  • Tues. Aug. 1: Dormition Fast begins (no services)
  • Wed. Aug. 2 (after Vespers): 720pm Christian Education w/ Dr. David Bradshaw
  • Sat. Aug. 5: 630pm Vigil for Transfiguration (Confessions following)
  • Sun. Aug. 6: 10am Liturgy for Lord’s Day and Transfiguration
  • Tues. Aug. 8: Pilgrimage to Holy Cross Monastery (St. Panteleimon Feast, OS)
