Today’s Readings: Colossians 3:12-16 Matthew 25:14-30
Axios to Deacon Simeon on his 1st Anniversary of Ordination to the Holy Diaconate! It was a year ago this weekend that His Emenince Archbishop Nikon dedicated our new church and ordained our deacon. We give thanks to God for Fr. Deacon Simeon, Matushka Ashleigh, and for their common diakonia in Christ for us!
The Great Feast of the Meeting of the Lord will be celebrated with Vigil with Litya Monday at 6:30pm and Festal Liturgy Tuesday at 7am. The office will email out an excuse letter for folks who are late to school because of the feast. Bring food to our festal breakfast in the hall afterwards. In addition to being one of the 12 Great Feasts of our Church Year, this feast also marks the 14th Anniversary of our Parish as a part of the Orthodox Church in America. (Due to the Festal Liturgy on Tuesday, we will not serve our usual Tuesday Moleben at 11am.)
Wednesday Vespers at 6:30pm and our weekly catechesis follows ~7:20pm. While last week’s reflection on Death & Dying was theological in nature, the second part will explore the prayed experience of the services associated with death. We will view videos and hear recordings of the various funeral services and hymns in our Orthodox Church.
Houseblessing Season is drawing to a close and about 75% of our households have received a houseblessing already. Fr. Justin appreciates participation in our new online sign-up, which greatly helped him with his schedule. If you did not have a chance to sign-up for one yet, but would like this blessing of your home, please see Fr. Justin after Liturgy today.
