Sunday, August 7, 2016 — 7th Sunday After Pentecost
Today’s Readings: Romans 15:1-7 Matthew 9:27-35
Moleben w/Akathist to St. Herman for local needs will be prayed on Tuesday, August 9 at 11am. Send any special requests to Fr. Justin’s email if you cannot be present. Service only lasts about 45 minutes.
Paraclesis to the Theotokos (for Dormition Fast) (in place of Vespers) on Wednesday at 6:30pm. This service is a beautiful extended hymn of reflection and, like the Dormition Fast season itself, encourages us to consider the Virgin Mary’s role in our God’s saving dispensation (her saying “yes” to the Incarnation) and to ask her to pray for us before her Son and our God. The weekly Christian Education class will follow at 7:20pm. Fr. Justin will continue with Part II of the series, “Orthodoxy & Society.” Come and bring friends.
Feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos is Monday, August 15. Vigil for this Feast will be served next Sunday the 14th at 6:30pm and confessions will be heard following at ~8:20pm. The Festal Liturgy will be at 7am on the 15th.
